The Mystic Way
The Pursuit of Truth
From the earliest times in humanities existence there are those who continue to search for ultimate truth. Why are we here? Who are we? What is the meaning of life? Such are the questions asked by these spiritual explorers the mystics.
Now in this present time the need to answer these questions looms ever larger as our world explodes with supercilious information and dubious dialogue. Everyone has an opinion but no one has an answer.
We live in a time of unrest and conviction. Unrest in our pursuit of personal fulfillment and conviction in the traditional belief systems handed down from those who came before us.
Which Reality?
On the one hand you have those who claim that knowledge is king and that if we study enough or read enough or think enough the answers will surely come. These individuals tend to believe only what they can see. There is nothing outside of the visible universe or the world in which they live. Their faith is based on sets of rules and creeds that should never be questioned.
On the other hand there are those who, with a childlike awe, listen to the music of their spirit. These are the ones who go beyond the veil and welcome the unknown and the unknowable into their world. Such are the Mystics, men and women throughout time who seek to glimpse the living forces moving through and around human existence. Their faith is based on the exploration of their inner selves and the mysteries they find there.
Toward the Divine
Through the ages many have endeavored to define the role they play in the cosmos. Searching within themselves and studying human nature their explorations have lead to some interesting possibilities. One such way is a psychological and spiritual journey called the Tao or the Mystic Way.
It is an adventure that culminates in the condition called identification with the divine ground, cosmic consciousness, self actualization, nirvana or spiritual conversion. An illuminating episode which may be deep or superficial, sudden or gradual resulting in the reorientation of personality into a new order of being.
A Deeper Reality
Many people have followed the Mystic Way and in spite of individual personalities the same basic processes are involved. No matter what the social or economic status of the seeker their path to enlightenment is always the same. Common to all of them is the awareness that life is larger, or deeper, or more mysterious than it appears at first glance. That's how it begins.
It begins with an innate knowledge that normal life is wrong, out of step with reality. That there exists a deeper reality than the one of which we are normally aware, an insight into something that does not appear on the surface. A mysterious longing to find that place of being where we are at peace with ourselves and the cosmos.
Remember when you stood on that high place or at the seaside or in a forest and felt something stirring inside you, a subtle joy and a feeling and an awareness that you could not describe but none the less somehow felt that you understood. A sense of belonging to something greater than yourself and at the same time being a part of it, this is the threshold of the Mystic Way.
Revelation
If the desire to know is great enough and we are diligent in the pursuit of understanding this enigma, in time, there comes a moment of great revelation and illumination. Sometimes this is a gradual process and often occurs without our knowledge in the deep recesses of our soul. Or, maybe it bursts forth in an episode of illuminating brilliance. However it manifests itself here is a sense of joy which seems to lift us out of ourselves.
Then follows a state of peace and harmony that words are barely able to describe, a perception of power and a personality integration, we become one with the cosmos and ourselves. We feel a sense of harmony, peace and a release from the historic and genetic bonds that bind us. We become ourselves, the way we were meant to be. For that moment we are life risen to a higher power.
This is the point at which most people stop. Refreshed by this experience they return to their lives with a new perspective and a better understanding of themselves and the world around them. However, in time, the pressures and pursuits of life dim the memory of this event and eventually it fades into the background noise of day to day existence.
The Path to Enlightenment
The mystic is constantly striving to subdue the old nature and replace it with the new pattern. Having experienced the infinite the mystics can not be satisfied with life as they knew it before. This paradox becomes a driving force, a quest if you will, toward a closer union with this nameless reality. They wish to posses this new found truth and become one with it.
The trek toward the light leads through what many mystics call the "dark night of the soul". A time of recurring darkness in the mind and depression of the spirit that can go on for years. A time of questioning everything yet never quite finding any answers. The memory of their moment of enlightenment is the sole force that drives them on, but even this eludes them.
Then in the fullness of time a new order begins to emerge. The pieces of the cosmic puzzle begin to fall into place. Understanding replaces confusion and with it comes a new view of reality. Personality changes shape and soon a new inner harmony takes root, this time forever. For the rest of their lives the mystic maintains that sense of peace and power that began their quest. This is the goal of the Mystic Way.
Reaching the Summit
Like the first moment of revelation, no matter if it is sudden or slow, the mystic makes the leap into a new and permanent pattern of being. Peace and inner harmony lead to new and exciting insights into themselves. Their vision is so vast that perspective does not allow them to see themselves as anything but a poor representative of something much greater than themselves. It is this that makes divine growth possible. From here forward the mystic is involved in the active attempt to conform to this great mystery, to mold themselves into the divine.
It is possible that we humans have powers of which we are only barely aware. Our lives are full of signs that such powers and possibilities do exist. It would be a tragedy for the human spirit to stifle such musings. We can never become what we were meant to be living with the dogma of a flat cosmos. Human life may well be a far more enhanced, magnificent, and subtler endeavor than we yet realize.

A Speck in Gods Eye
A Speck in Gods Eye
When mankind first awoke from the darkness of a mindless past and we began our journey toward today, something happened. For the first time in human history we could see the cosmos and our place in it. We were but specks floating free in an unfathomable ocean of time and space.

Everywhere we looked vistas that exceeded our comprehension opened before us. We saw the universe for the first time and it paled us into insignificance. Like any infant we were dwarfed by our parents; earth and sky. Wherever we would turn our gaze we encountered things which would cause us awe. Soon we began to worship those things.

Intelligence
The ages that followed the birth of the mind honed our intelligence, on the stone of struggle, to a fine edge. We were soon well prepared to match the tug-of-war between life and death. We could ensure our survival by virtue of our wits.
The struggle of day to day existence was our teacher and through the give and take of daily life we could learn those things that increased our chances of survival. Thus this thing we call intelligence was born. But, intelligence could not answer every question.
The Unknown
There were still those things that our intelligence could not fathom. Plague, earthquake and the other multitude of uncertainties that make up daily life were still beyond our understanding. These were enemies with which we could not contend.

Soon we realized that we had very limited control over the world we live in and the events that make up our lives. The driving need to control our environment pestered our souls and would not abate. Somehow the fledgling mind would need to find a means of countering this dilemma, it did so by worshiping the unknown.

The Birth of the Gods
Temples and shrines arose and stretched toward the heavens as if to appeal to the cosmos for favor. In these places of worship man sought to know and be known by the powers that control this world. Forgotten was that moment when we first stood before infinity, heir apparent to all that it held. The awe and mystery of creation gave way to the worshiping of gods which were only shallow reflections of a much deeper reality. We turned our eyes inward and began to live below our possibilities.
A New Genesis
Today we stand at a crossroad that leads in one direction toward a dim and struggling tomorrow and in the other direction toward a new genesis. Our place in this universe is a lofty one. We carry within us the cosmos itself. We are life risen to the highest form of which we are aware. It is by virtue of our minds that this universe exists at all.

Without the mind to perceive it the cosmos would not exist as a abstract thought. We are the cutting edge of reality. Our role then is a simple one. We must always seek after the truth. We have to see things as they really are not as we might want them to be. We can think, and because we can think we can discover what creation really has to offer us as its offspring.

What's Going On?
We are as a people and as a planet in a time of dynamic change that is certain to change life as we know it. These changes are shifting the consciousness of the planet and the very paradigms that we have been raised with.
The energy on the planet has been shifting for many years now and it is becoming more intense. New energies have been entering our atmosphere and energy, in general, has been building up within and around the planet.
There is an awakening and a dynamic shift taking place on our planet.
The awakening is of the people, coming alive to the ideas and understanding of their own power. For too long now, people have lived their lives in the illusion that there was a power outside of themselves that controlled or limited them. Almost like a veil or a curtain, we have not been able to see the whole picture. That veil is now being lifted and we are all being given the chance to elevate to a new level of consciousness, awareness, and potential.
The dynamic shift is in the balance of power. For too long, male energy has dominated the planet with the paradigm of competition, domination and control. The balance of power has, in fact, been out of balance and that is now being corrected. The power that has allowed for the control of vital resources, oppression and abuse of human rights around the world, and the gap between the "haves" and the "have-nots" to widen is on its way out.
The abuse of power that has allowed the competition energy to flourish - that energy where some people must lose for others to gain - is no longer going to be tolerated.
Before there's any misunderstanding, let me get some terms straight. Male energy does not refer to type of chromosomes or physical anatomy. Male energy is within each and every person on the planet. It is often related to the left side of the brain (the logical, reasoning side) and the right side of the body. Women have this same energy but have not been trained to exert it in the same way that men have. Men, as a whole, have been developed in this area, but over the last 40 years women have been catching up.
The energies on the planet now are for the awakening of the female energy, often called goddess energy. This is, again, within everyone and is related to the right side of the brain (the creative side) and the left side of the body. The characteristics of this energy are loving, nurturing, supportive, and a desire to see the best in everyone expressed. It is an energy of harmony, mystery, love, and magic that encourages the power and the greatness within each individual.
We are at a time when neither of these energies will dominate, but both will need to be blended within each of us. Men are being challenged to bring out their feminine sides while women are being challenged to honor their feminine energy that they've repressed and to step into their power.
Beyond this balancing of our individual energies and our expression of power in the world, it is a time for us all to finally realize that we are ONE. We can't just say it anymore, we need to believe it and we need to live it. Some people compare each of us as a cell in the body of the planetary consciousness. As with our own bodies, what affects one cell affects all the cells. Pollute one area and you poison the body as a whole.
It is essential that we begin to realize that every person we meet is a part of our global self. We are ONE.
